SooJung Yoon was born in South Korea and started to play the flute at the age of seven. She studied at Yewon Art School, Seoul Arts High School, the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts and eventually at the Korea National University of the Arts where she is a student of Yerin Lee, Euikyung Park and Shinjung Oh. She has participated in master-classes with prominent flautists including Julien Beaudiment, Jose-Daneil Castellon, Phillipe Bernold, Sophie Cherrier, Mathieu Dufour and Sandra Tilly. SooJung has won a number of prizes in Korea including First Prizes at the Ewha Kyunghyang Competition, the Classical Music Magazine Competition and the Seoul National University Competition. She has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Seoul Chamber Orchestra, the Tokyo Prime Symphony Orchestra and the Kinga Symphony Orchestra.
