Sérgio Coelho occupies the principal clarinet chair at the American Youth Symphony Orchestra. He performs regularly with Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, the Downey Symphony Orchestra and the Los Angeles Sinfonietta. As a soloist he had the opportunity to perform with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra and the USC Symphony Orchestra. Sérgio has been a semifinalist at the Jacques Lancelot International Clarinet Competition, a finalist at the Hennings-Fischer Young Artists Competition and has won First Prize at the USC Concerto Competition and Second Prize at the Pasadena Showcase Competition. He studied at the University of Southern California Los Angeles where he is currently a postgraduate student, before which he attended the Metropolitan National Orchestral Academy in his native Portugal.
