As a teenager, Michiru Matsuyama won First Prize at the International Music Competition and the Great Wall Music Competition. She studied in Japan with Professor Koichiro Harada at the Toho High School of Music. Since 2010, she has lived in Germany, studying at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler and the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber. Since 2017 she has studied at the University of Music and Theater Felix-Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig with Professor Carolin Widmann. She won Second Prize at the Königin Sophie Charlotte Competition and Third Prize at the Rodolfo Lipizer Competition. She has been a semi-finalist at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and the Fritz Kreisler Competition. She has appeared with orchestras including the Orchestra Royal de Chamber de Wallonie and the Sendai Philharmonic.
