Matvey Demin (25, Russia)

Matvey Demin was born in in Osinniki, Siberia, and studied at the Novosibirsk Specialized School of Music with Nadezhda Furenkova, continuing his studies with Professor Andrea Lieberknecht at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Hannover and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Munich. He is a laureate of the Kuhlau, ARD, Deutscher Hochschulwettbewerb, BJIMC Beijing, Krakow, UNISA and Aeolus Winds Competitions and has occupied the Solo Flute chair in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra. At the age of 20 he was appointed to the Co-Principal Solo Flute chair at the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich where he has played under Bernhard Haitink, David Zinman, Herbert Blomstedt, Franz-Welser Möst, Paavo Järvi and more. Matev is also an active chamber musician and has appeared at the Davos, Emilia Romagna and Molyvos Festivals.
