Léon Haffner is a former concertmaster of the National Youth Orchestra of France and has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Academy. He plays regularly in the Orchestre de Paris and the Orchestre National d’Ile-de-France. He studied at the Conservatoire de Lyon with Sophie Besançon, at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Alexis Galperine and at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin where he remains a student under Ulf Wallin. Léon has performed under conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Semyon Bychkov, Klaus Mäkelä and Fabien Gabel at venues including the Philharmonie in Berlin and the Philharmonie de Paris. He has participated in master-classes with Boris Garlitsky, Vera Beths, Gerhard Schulz and Kolja Blacher.
