Hyeonsoo Kim studied at the Seoul Arts High School and the Seoul National University and is currently a student at the Haute École de Musique de Genève where he studies with Romain Guyot. He has been a member of the One Korea Orchestra under the leadership of Myung-Whun Chung and the Yewon School Chamber Orchestra, with which he has performed at the Philharmonie in Berlin. He is a laureate of the Buffet Crampon Korea Competition (Grand Prize), the Japan Osaka International Competition and the Young-Chang Music Competition (First Prize). Hyeonsoo was selected as a Young Artist of the Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation and his teachers in Korea included Sangwoo Lim and Sungshim Choi.
