Héléna Macherel studied at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne under José- Daniel Castellon, where she won the Fritz Bach Prize. She continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, Belrin, in the class of Silvia Careddu and with Claude Lefebvre in Paris. She has also taken lessons from Sophie Cherrier, Juliette Hurel, Patrick Gallois, Emily Beynon, Andrea Lieberknecht and Emmanuel Pahud. Héléna has won the Emona Competition in Solvenia, the International Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Serbia and the Paul Streit Prize of the Geneva Competition. She has reached the final of the Budapest International Flute Competition and the Cimarosa Competition. She has appeared as a soloist with the Zurich Tonhalle and Chamber Orchestras, the Budapest Radio Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and the Danube Symphony Orchestra.
