Fedor Kalashnov’s first flute teacher was Viktor Ponomarev, who occupied the principal flute chair of the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. Fedor continued his studies at the Gnesin State Music School and the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music under Natalia Stepina and Albert Gofman. In 2019 he enrolled at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln where he was in the class of Aldo Baerten. Fedor has occupied the co-principal flute chair at the Natalya Sats Music Theatre, the principal piccolo chair at the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow and the principal flute chair at the Central Navy Band of Russia. He is a laureate of the Severino Gazzelloni International Flute Competition (Second Prize and Special Prize) and the Dutch International Flute Competition (Grand Prize).
