Erika Macalli (23, Italy)

Erika Macalli was born in Rome and attended the Conservatories of Rome and Milan. She is a previous winner of the Kuhlau International Competition and was runner-up at both the Krakamp and Koehler Competitions, following which she was awarded the Severino Gazzelloni scholarship. She has played with the Youth Orchestra of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the Ernst and Young Orchestra, the Italian Youth Orchestra, the Youth Orchestra of the Mediterranean and the Orchestra Cherubini conducted by Riccardo Muti. She has sat in the Principal Flute chair of I Pomeriggi Musicali Milan and the Haydn Orchester Bolzano. Erika studied flute with Michele Marasco, Paolo Taballione and Andrea Oliva and piccolo with Michele Colajanni
