Arata Yumi (26, Japan)

Arata Yumi from Tokyo was a prizewinner at the 2011 Henryk Wieniawski Competition, which brought him a number of engagements at international concert halls. In March 2015, he made his debut in Taipei with the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, playing the Sibelius concerto. He has performed with orchestras including the Argovia Philharmonic, the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Arata has appeared at festivals including Gstaad Menuhin Festival and Musikfestival Ernen. Awards include the Aoyama Music Award Kyoto (2017), the Kiefer-Hablitzel Music Prize Berne (2016) and first prizes at a number of competitions including as the Guadagnini Competition Tokyo. He has received scholarships from the Yamaha music foundation, ROHM music foundation, Ezoe Memorial Foundation and Migros Kulturprozent.
